How to index a website in Google
Your site will be indexed by Google only when the Google crawler finds a link to your site in any other site that has already been indexed by it. It’s job is to index sites and it does it by going through each and every do-follow links that it finds in sites that it has already indexed. If your site’s link is not there in any indexed site, then its almost impossible to get it indexed. The reason is – it should find your site somehow and without a link to your site even in a single site – it won’t be even knowing whether there is such a site online or not.
But there is one more way to index your site. Google allows to submit sites that are not yet indexed. And these sites will be indexed manually by the professionals out there at Google. For that you’ll have to submit your site using the appropriate form that you will be finding online in their site. But I don’t think, your site will be indexed this way. I have already tried this method. And this is something that I hate to do. It will surely take months. And even then, there is no guarantee that the site will get indexed. Then why should we index sites this way? Not just that, using the other method that we have mentioned above, your site will get indexed in a day or two.
One of the easiest way to index a site is by submitting press releases. There are a lot of press release sites. These would be surely high authority sites and so even new pages of the sites will get indexed the same instant. If you are gonna submit a press release of your site, you’ll be able to put a link to your site there. Google crawler will be crawling these sites every now and then since these are sites where people submit press releases. If you are doing it this way, then there is a high chance for your site to get indexed in Google in the next 1-2 days.

How to rank a site high in Google.
Before you start ranking your site in Google, make sure the site is already indexed in Google. And if it’s already indexed in Google, then you may start doing SEO works on your site. Otherwise, get a link to your site from other sites that are already indexed in Google.
There are different methods of increasing the SERP of your site. SERP stands for Search Engine Ranking Position. Getting quality backlinks to your site should be your first aim when you think about increasing the SERP of your site. And when you publish quality content in your website, you’ll be automatically getting quality backlinks. People will like to point to an article published in your site, if its worth reading. And they would be interested in writing a short introduction regarding the post in your site and then may give a link to your site from their site – so that the visitors of their site can come to your site and read that wonderful post that you have created there, in your site. This way, you are getting an easy quality backlink and also free traffic.
So, that’s one of the ways of getting free backlinks. It may sound tough for you. But once you start publishing quality posts in your sites, you’ll start seeing a lot of traffic. And that will supplement you with a lot of quality one way backlinks as well.
Another way to get backlink is to contact webmasters directly. If you find a site that is related with yours, then try to get the email id of the webmaster and get in touch with him. Ask him to put a link to your site, and also ask what he wants from you in return of that. Some may ask a fee for putting your link on a monthly basis. And some may offer you a fee to put a permanent link – this will be a discounted fee – though it might be an higher amount. You may even find people who won’t be asking any fee at all- but they may ask a link in return for that from your site. In that case, you’ll have to link back to their site as well – and this is called as reciprocal linking. So that’s about getting backlinks directly from webmasters.
Doing the things that are mentioned above, you can increase the ranking of your site. But make sure you are getting links from quality sites, that are related with the niche that you are targeting.

How to start an online business
An online business can’t be started if you don’t have the time to manage your business. You should be a full time worker doing things needed for promoting and improving your online business. If you are already engaged in some other things, then it’s better, you think about starting an online business after you finish up those works. An online business can be started even by a student or a full time worker. You can resign your day job and start doing business online if you think, it’s worth it. But you should be well prepared to face all kinds of consequences.
Similar is the case with students who are looking to start an online business. If you are planning to do both these things simultaneously, then you’ll surely mess up completely. Concentrate on any ome of the the two things – either your studies or your online business. If you are just planning to opt for university studies and if you don’t have the money for it at the moment, then you may take a break, and start doing business online in order to earn some cash to pay the tuition fees.
Before you move any further, think about something that you’ll be able to achieve online. It can be an online store selling templates, it can be websites teaching some stuffs, it can be blogs, it can be forums etc. But once you decide with a business, stick with it and think about things that you should be doing in order to make some money out of it. You can get ideas to start an online business from friends of yours. You can even search websites online, in order to get some fresh ideas. If you are good at things like programming, designing, writing etc, then you can sell these services to others for some easy cash. So, think about it – you’ll get something for sure.

How to verify your paypal account
Verifying paypal account is simple and will take only a few moments. If you are still a non verified, paypal user, then it’s time for you to verify your paypal account. For verifying your paypal account you should add a credit card. And if you don’t have a credit card with you, then you may still verify your paypal account using a VISA debit card.
Paypal is a reputed online payment processor which has been online for more than ten years now. So, there is nothing to worry about when adding your credit card to your paypal account. You can be confident about it, since millions of people all over the world are using it and so you may also use it without worrying about anything. Even large merchants use it, then why can’t we small webmasters use it?
When attaching your credit card with your paypal account, you’ll have to provide the credit card number, expiry date and every such details you usually provide to buy something online using your credit card. But once you add your credit card to your paypal account by providing those details (which are mentioned above), from then on, you won’t be asked to enter it again, even if you want to purchase something online using your paypal account. You can just deposit funds to your paypal account using the added credit card and then you may use the paypal balance to buy products and services online. This way, your credit card details won’t be known to anyone other than you and paypal. There are a lot of scam sites online which may record your credit card details. But if you are using your paypal account, then there is nothing much worry about such things.
If you don’t have a credit card then get a VISA debit card from your bank. If the debit card that your bank provided you is not with VISA logo, then contact them and ask for one with VISA logo in it. Don’t say them anything about paypal – or about verifying your paypal account. They won’t understand these things. There are a lot of people who are not used to the online world. So, just ask them whether they would be able to give you a VISA debit card or not. If not, then create another bank account which offer VISA debit card.

Importance of Directories for Bloggers
A lot of people in the online business say that directory submissions are played out and not worth there weight and gold anymore. I disagree with this completely though and I feel that directory submissions are basically mandatory for bloggers. Directory submissions won’t help bring in direct traffic to your blog, but they do build your backlinks up fairly quickly and therefore boost your SERP rankings. You’re much better off taking your time with directory submissions and not doing them all at once. You’ll notice a brief increase in SE traffic from submitting to directories quickly, but if you take your time and only do a few everyday then you’ll notice a more steady flow of SE traffic. There are both free and paid directories that you can submit to and I personally don’t use any of the paid directories. Either I feel there not worth the value or in some cases just too costly for a blogger to spend on directory submissions.
Instead of spending money on directory submissions I simply submit to five directories everyday that I haven’t used before and this way I’m getting a guaranteed five backlinks each day for my blog. Google will notice that backlinks are being built everyday on a consistent basis and most importantly the links will seem naturally built to Google which is vital. When you submit to too many directories at once you run the chance of Google thinking that your submissions were done through automation which would hurt your SERP rankings. Being completely natural is the only way for you to go when building links to your blog and that’s why submitting to only 3-10 directories daily is ideal.
Since you’ll be submitting to so many directories there isn’t really a need to list any here because you’ll end up finding them anyways. There are regular directories, blog directories and niche directories, now you’ll want to submit to all three types of directories on a regular basis. Regular directories allow any type of site from almost any category you could imagine, blog directories only accept blogs and niche directories will only accept sites/blogs from the niche that the directory is about. I find that blog directories and niche directories hold good value so you should seek these types of directories out first and then move on to regular directories. There are hundreds of directory lists with thousands of directories on them which you can find easily on the internet. One of the best resources that I use for finding directories is DirectoryCritic.com which always has an updated list of directories. They also have niche directories so it’s a site worth checking out.
You’ll notice that some directories take awhile before accepting your submission but that is fine and don’t expect them to do it in one day every time. Directory owners are usually busy approving and rejecting hundreds of submissions each day so sometimes they won’t get to yours for awhile. One last thing that you need to know about directories is that some will require a reciprocal link and some won’t. I personally only submit to directories that don’t need a reciprocal link unless it’s a good blog directory or niche directory. There isn’t any reason a regular directory should ask for a reciprocal though and generally when I come across ones that do I skip them.

We hereby declare 2012 as the Year of the WordPress Meetup. You’ll want to get in on this action.
meet·up mēt-əp noun
A meeting, especially a regular meeting of people who share a particular interest and have connected with each other through a social-networking Web site: a meetup for new moms in the neighborhood; a meetup to plan the trip; a meetup for WordPress users.1
So what is a WordPress Meetup? Basically, it’s people in a community getting together — meeting up — who share an interest in WordPress, whether they be bloggers, business users, developers, consultants, or any other category of person able to say, “I use WordPress in some way and I like it, and I want to meet other people who can say the same.” Meetups come in different shapes and sizes, but they all carry the benefit of connecting you with potential collaborators and friends, and helping you learn more about what you can do with WordPress. Here are some of the common types of WordPress meetups:
- Hang out and work on your WordPress sites together
- Social/happy hour type gatherings
- Mini-lectures/presentations
- Developer hacking meetups
- Show & tell of how group members are using WordPress
- Formal instruction on how to use WordPress
- Lecture series (possibly with visiting speakers)
- Genius bar/help desk
There’s no prescribed format, as each local group can decide for itself what they want to do. Some groups mix it up from month to month, while others have multiple events each month to satisfy the needs of their community.
The tough part? Running a popular group takes time and money. Just as we worked last year to remove the financial burden for WordCamp organizers and provide logistical support so they could focus more on their event content and experience, we want to start extending that kind of support to meetup groups as well. We don’t want it to cost anything for someone to run a WordPress meetup, or to attend one — building local communities should be as free as WordPress itself!
Since there are so many more meetups than there are WordCamps, we’re going to start with the cost that is the same for every group: meetup.com organizer dues. We’re setting up an official WordPress account on Meetup.com right now, and over the next couple of weeks will be working with existing meetup group organizers, people who want to start a new meetup group, and the helpful folks at Meetup.com to put this program in place. WordPress meetup groups that choose to have their group become part of the WordPress account will no longer pay organizer dues for that group, as the WordPress Foundation will be footing the bill.
This is exciting for several reasons. First, it means local organizers who are giving something back to the project by way of their time won’t also have shell out $12-19/month for the privilege. That alone is a big step. Second, it will open the door to more events and leaders within a community, since leadership and event planning won’t need to be tied to “owning” the meetup group. Third, more active meetup groups means more WordCamps, yay!
In addition to the financial aspects, we’ll be working on ways to improve social recognition of meetup activity by incorporating feeds from the official meetup groups into the WordPress.org site, and including meetup group participation in the activity stream on your WordPress.org profile.2 I’m also hoping we can do something around providing video equipment to meetup groups (like we already do for WordCamps) to record presentations and tutorials that can be posted to WordPress.tv, helping meetup groups offer WordPress classes in their community, and getting involved with mentoring WordPress clubs at local schools and universities. Oh, and we’ll send out some WordPress buttons and stickers to the groups that join in, because everyone loves buttons and stickers.
We’re also putting together some cool resources for people who want to start a new meetup group. There will be a field guide to getting started and some supplies to help you get your group going, and a forum for organizers to talk to and learn from each other.
Over time, we’ll be talking to organizers and looking at what other expenses we can absorb and what other support we can provide to local groups. For now, we’re starting with the organizer dues. If you currently run a WordPress meetup group (whether you are using Meetup.com or not) or would like to start a WordPress meetup group in your area, please fill out our WordPress Meetup Groups survey. Filling in the survey doesn’t obligate you to join the official group, it just gives us a starting point to a) find out what groups are around/interested, and b) get some information on existing groups and their expenses and needs. Meetup.com will contact the group organizers who’ve said they’d like to join the new program, and will walk them through the logistics of the change and answer questions before helping them to opt-in officially.
So, if you currently run a WordPress meetup group, or you would like to start one, please fill out our WordPress Meetup Groups survey. I can’t wait to see more meetups!

When you’re a webmaster you need to build one way links to your blog or site in order to make sure that you increase your search engine rankings. One way links are the hardest links to get because they involve the most amount of work to get, but this is why they are valuable in the search engines and highly sought after by webmasters. There are lots of ways you can gain one way links to your site or blog and they’re all typically useful in some way but there are some that will rank better then others.
The best type of one way link to receive is through another site or blog related to yours where they give you an in-content one way link.
This can happen from you posting great content on your niche and sometimes you can also ask to be mentioned on a blog in return for content or links on other sites of yours. If you can build your links this way then you stand an amazing chance at getting lots of search engine rankings in time.
Another few methods you can use when you build one way links to your site or blog are article directories, directories in your niche, social bookmarking and blog commenting. All four of these methods can get you lots of one way links and in time they will end up helping your site or blog rank well. The methods above don’t have a sudden impact on your search rankings but as they start to age the rankings will start to improve.
You can build hundreds of one way links to your blogs and sites by using the methods outlines above and if you’re serious about taking your sites to the next level then you need to spend the time building links. You won’t really see fast results from your efforts but as your links age they will begin to rank better in the search engines and you’ll soon begin to have great rankings.
To make money off of your sites you need search engine traffic for the most part, well as long as you want to make money without money then that’s your option. If you want to spend money to make money then you can try other methods, but for the most part if you want to make money without spending any then search engine traffic is your best friend.
You can make a lot of money through the right keywords and you’ll need to figure out which keywords you should optimize on your blog or site. Ideally you should rank for many terms in the search engines and in time you will begin to, you just need to always promote your blogs and sites with one way link building campaigns to get the rankings.
Once you’ve achieved the rankings you want then you also need to still continue building one way links so that you hold the position and noone steals it from you.

WordPress.org is officially joining the protest against Senate Bill 968: the Protect IP Act that is coming before the U.S. Senate next week. As I wrote in my post a week ago, if this bill is passed it will jeopardize internet freedom and shift the power of the independent web into the hands of corporations. We must stop it.
On January 18, 2012 many sites around the web — from small personal blogs to internet institutions like Mozilla, Wikipedia, reddit, and I Can Has Cheezburger? – will be going dark in protest and to drive their visitors to sites like americancensorship.org to take action and help fight the passage of the Protect IP Act. So will WordPress.org.
If you want to join the protest by blacking out your WordPress site or applying a ribbon, there is now a variety of blackout plugins in the WordPress.org plugins directory. While joining the protest in this manner is laudable, please don’t forget to also make those phone calls to U.S. Senators — they’re the ones with the voting power.

Link Building for Bloggers
Its tough even deciding on where to begin with discussing link building with all of you but it’s definitely something that needs to be addressed amongst all of us bloggers. Link building is the single most important aspect of blogging apart from your content. We all already know that content is absolute king when it comes to blogging and you won’t retain visitors without good content, and you also won’t see too much search engine traffic. If you have your content figured out and you got a steady stream of traffic beginning to pick up on your blog then you might be considering a link building campaign. There are lots of ways you can build links as a blogger and all of them I feel are vital to maximizing your exposure. If you only focus on getting one type of backlink then you’ll be missing to be much exposure that you could otherwise be getting if you just planned your campaign out. I always make sure I have a solid plan written out before I begin any link building campaign, and I also accompany the written plan with an excel sheet to record the data. I like knowing how much I do each day so that I can add it all up at the end of each month to see how my campaign did and to see if I noticed any results. If I notice results that for the better then I usually keeps the same plan for the next month minus a few tweaks. If I notice that the results have worsened from previous months then I will re-look through my data and make needed changes. Having everything written down allows for it to be a lot more organized and a lot more effective.
Once you have your plan of attack laid out then you can begin building the links throughout the rest of this article I will aim to teach you multiple methods of getting backlinks now so you can begin planning.

There are tons of ways to naturally attain links for your blog and you need to try and incorporate as many of the different options as possible when working on link building. Link building is a constant trait of a blogger so make sure you’re willing to spend at least a half hour each day building links before you begin blogging. Building links I find is the most strenuous part of blogging, but it needs to be done so either you need to spend the time doing it yourself or you need to hire someone who can do it for you. Hiring someone isn’t always that bad, but typically you shouldn’t hire anyone to work on your blog before its making profit because you don’t know if it will even make money. I generally will wait until I see some traffic and a couple conversions on a blog before I really start pushing the link building and content.

You are an agent of change. Has anyone ever told you that? Well, I just did, and I meant it.
Normally we stay away from from politics here at the official WordPress project — having users from all over the globe that span the political spectrum is evidence that we are doing our job and democratizing publishing, and we don’t want to alienate any of our users no matter how much some of us may disagree with some of them personally. Today, I’m breaking our no-politics rule, because there’s something going on in U.S. politics right now that we need to make sure you know about and understand, because it affects us all.
Using WordPress to blog, to publish, to communicate things online that once upon a time would have been relegated to an unread private journal (or simply remained unspoken, uncreated, unshared) makes you a part of one of the biggest changes in modern history: the democratization of publishing and the independent web. Every time you click Publish, you are a part of that change, whether you are posting canny political insight or a cat that makes you LOL. How would you feel if the web stopped being so free and independent? I’m concerned freaked right the heck out about the bills that threaten to do this, and as a participant in one of the biggest changes in modern history, you should be, too.
You may have heard people talking/blogging/twittering about SOPA — the Stop Online Piracy Act. The recent SOPA-related boycott of GoDaddy was all over the news, with many people expressing their outrage over the possibilities of SOPA, but when I ask people about SOPA and its sister bill in the Senate, PIPA (Protect IP Act), many don’t really know what the bills propose, or what we stand to lose. If you are not freaked out by SOPA/PIPA, please: for the next four minutes, instead of checking Facebook statuses, seeing who mentioned you on Twitter, or watching the latest episode of Sherlock*, watch this video.
Some thoughts:
- In the U.S. our legal system maintains that the burden of proof is on the accuser, and that people are innocent until proven guilty. This tenet seems to be on the chopping block when it comes to the web if these bills pass, as companies could shut down sites based on accusation alone.
- Laws are not like lines of PHP; they are not easily reverted if someone wakes up and realizes there is a better way to do things. We should not be so quick to codify something this far-reaching.
- The people writing these laws are not the people writing the independent web, and they are not out to protect it. We have to stand up for it ourselves.
Blogging is a form of activism. You can be an agent of change. Some people will tell you that taking action is useless, that online petitions, phone calls to representatives, and other actions won’t change a single mind, especially one that’s been convinced of something by lobbyist dollars. To those people, I repeat the words of Margaret Mead:
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.
We are not a small group. More than 60 million people use WordPress — it’s said to power about 15% of the web. We can make an impact, and you can be an agent of change. Go to Stop American Censorship for more information and a bunch of ways you can take action quickly, easily, and painlessly. The Senate votes in two weeks, and we need to help at least 41 more senators see reason before then. Please. Make your voice heard.
*Yes, the latest episode of Sherlock is good. Stephen Moffatt + Russell Tovey = always good
